This summer I spent a lot of time researching the 801010 lifestyle. I bought the book (see it here), started reading, and started following 801010.
What is 801010? It is a holistic lifestyle approach to diet, where your source of calories come from 80% clean carbs, 10% protein, and 10% fat. I felt great, and loved the results I was getting. I was building muscle, losing fat, and loving the way I felt. I started slacking off as July ended, and with the start of school, I completely fell off the bandwagon.
To help get myself back on the right track, I have decided that I am going to commit to going fully raw for the entire month of September!
What does fully raw mean?
To me, fully raw means following a low fat, raw vegan diet. This means no added salt, gluten, processed or cooked foods. Only pure, raw, fresh, living foods. It will be hard, but I am excited for the challenge.
Why go fully raw?
I feel my best when eating clean, unprocessed foods, and I am always up for a new challenge. I have never been totally raw for more than a few days at a time, so I want to see what longer term results may look like.
What results am I expecting?
I am expecting to lose a few pounds, feel healthier, and have a renewed sense of health. I am also expecting to see positive changes in my attitude and outlook on life!
I am also hoping that this will give me a new motivation for blogging here! I truly enjoy writing this blog, but I am still trying to find where I fit in in this big blogosphere.I am hoping to find a clear sense of self through this experiment.
To kick of my Fully Raw September, here is a yummy recipe I created today!
Peach Cherry Limeade Smoothie
2 large frozen peaches, about 3 cups
2 cups dark sweet frozen cherries
1 lime, juiced
2 cups water
Blend until smooth in a high speed (or regular!) blender. Sip and enjoy! This reminded me of the cherry limeades I would get at Sonic as a kid. Tart and refreshing.
